Functional Art · Est. 2024

True luxury is
not manufactured.
It is unearthed.

We curate one-of-a-kind functional art unearthed from the volcanic estates of Antigua, Guatemala — the dense, chaotic root systems of heritage coffee and the soaring canopies of native Conacaste. Every piece is hand-turned by master artisans, preserving the raw, erratic beauty of wood that spent decades absorbing the estate.

The Collections

Two disciplines. One obsession with grain.

We work with the materials the industrial timber complex overlooks — the roots too dense, the burls too chaotic, the grain too erratic for mass production. Each collection preserves the soul of the region it came from.

The Root Archive

Decades in the earth, carrying the legacy of the coffee harvest. Highly figured, dense root burls — excavated, cured, and turned into solitary vessels and candle architectures.

Heritage Coffee-Root Vessel · $350.00

This piece began deep in the volcanic soil of Guatemala. Carved from the reclaimed root ball of a heritage coffee shrub, it features a chaotic, high-contrast grain that can only be formed by decades of earth, moisture, and pressure.

The pale, creamy sapwood acts as a canvas for the dramatic mineral streaking — a visual map of the tree’s life cycle. Masterfully turned to balance raw organic weight with refined geometric line.

From Soil to Studio

“We do not dictate the design. The grain dictates the design.”

Finca Roots was founded on a singular obsession: preserving the untouched, often overlooked materials of the Guatemalan landscape.

The industrial timber complex focuses on uniformity. We focus on the exact opposite — collaborating directly with local woodworkers, using Conacaste and reclaimed coffee roots so every piece retains the soul of the region it came from.
